Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking an Intellectual Property Paralegal to support a busy IP practice. The role involves patent matter preparation, docketing, electronic filing, portfolio management, and maintenance of patent applications.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years IP paralegal experience, with patent prosecution experience in pharma/life sciences. A associates degree is required; a BA or ABA-approved paralegal certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years intellectual property paralegal experience; patent experience preferred.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, life sciences, and/or biotech patent prosecution.
• Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s Degree and/or Paralegal Certificate from ABA approved program preferred.
• Significant, substantive legal related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

Responsibilities

• Research and compile information on national and international IP rights.
• Prepare status summary reports for attorneys and clients.
• Coordinate international filings with foreign offices and/or other entities.
• Assist in IP-related litigation, oppositions, interferences and cancellations; draft pleadings.
• Perform online searches of PTO records and other databases; draft responses to PTO actions.
• Independently organize and manage files; meet annual billable hour requirement of 1500 hours.
