Job summary

The Research Foundation for The State University of New York (RF) seeks an energetic Associate for Intellectual Property Management and Licensing to support its Innovation and Partnerships team. You will analyze SUNY's IP portfolio and work with researchers to advance disclosures, assess patentability, and drive licensing and technology transfer initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
Experience with software development or programming beyond basic analytics.
At least one year of experience in technology transfer, business development, or IP.

Responsibilities

Lead engagement efforts to identify new IP in physical/computer sciences.
Collaborate with IP Licensing Managers and Compliance Coordinators to capture disclosures.
Complete IP and market assessments for patentability and commercial potential.
Engage IP counsel to develop protection strategies, including patents and copyrights.
Support licensing strategies and outreach to industry partners.
Manage contracts and agreements involving software licensing and data use.
Travel to campuses and represent I&P on multiple campuses.
Assist in patent prosecution decisions and materials prep for software innovations.
