Job summary

NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York seeks a Licensing Associate, Life Sciences, to manage disclosure, IP protection, and transfer of NYU technologies from NYU Abu Dhabi to the marketplace. The role involves outreach to researchers, evaluating disclosures for commercial potential, and coordinating with external counsel to advance licensing discussions.

You will collaborate with the Director of Technology Transfer NYUAD, work across policy boundaries, and help nurture spin-off companies

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering required.
• PhD or MBA preferred.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with senior management and researchers across institutions.

Responsibilities

• Meet with researchers to learn of their work and solicit invention disclosures.
• Evaluate disclosures for commercial potential and assess patentability and license potential.
• Prepare marketing summaries of inventions and track activities in Salesforce or similar systems.
• Identify potential commercial partners and reach out to key decision makers.
• Draft and negotiate confidentiality and material transfer agreements with companies.
• Review grants and contracts for new technologies and align with IP requirements.
• Research and engage with industry to identify licensing opportunities and startups.
• Assist in negotiating IP agreements with companies and support startup development.
• Collaborate with NYUAD leadership to foster spin-offs and translational ventures.
• Monitor licensee obligations and ensure compliance with agreements and milestones.
• Maintain data in the IP database and adhere to NYULH/NYUAD policies.
