Job summary

Ideal candidates have 2+ years in residential mortgage or investment underwriting, strong valuation and income analysis skills, and proven documentation clarity. Collaboration with product and tech is essential to scale risk controls.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of residential mortgage, real estate, or investment underwriting experience.
• Experience in senior or escalation-focused roles is preferred.
• Strong understanding of property valuation, credit analysis, and income underwriting.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to document underwriting decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive underwriting reviews of residential real estate investments, including valuation, credit, and income analysis.
• Review residential appraisals to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines.
• Evaluate home inspections to identify risk factors and document findings.
• Conduct income underwriting and calculate qualifying income.
• Escalate complex or high-risk transactions with sound judgment.
• Perform quality control reviews and internal audits.
• Contribute to underwriting system improvements and tooling initiatives.
• Collaborate with Product, Technology, and Operations on automation.
• Stay informed on PropTech/FinTech trends to improve underwriting quality.
• Share expertise and mentor peers.
