Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Interventional Radiology Coding Specialist to identify CPT and ICD-10 codes for IR services and related encounters. You will review clinical notes, collaborate with radiology and revenue cycle teams, and resolve coding denials while staying current with industry guidelines.

Requires AHIMA/AAPC certification and 2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience, with proficiency in ICD-10, Excel, and EMR systems.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
AHIMA/AAPC credential (CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, CPC, CPC-A) to be maintained annually.
2+ years of outpatient facility coding experience.
2+ years of experience with ICD-10.
Ability to use a Windows PC, including Microsoft Excel and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

Identify CPT and ICD-10 codes for Interventional Radiology services and related encounters.
Code for Acute Care Facility, Ancillary, ED, Multispecialty Same Day Surgery and Observation encounters.
Review clinical notes to ensure complete charge capture and compliance with coding guidelines.
Collaborate with radiology team and revenue cycle to resolve denials and coding edits.
Work with providers to resolve coding queries and documentation issues.
Abstract additional data elements during chart review as needed.
Stay current with coding regulations and payer guidelines.
Maintain performance in coding quality and productivity as established by Optum.
Participate in department meetings and educational events.
