Job summary

Symetra invites university students to join the Internal Audit team as a Summer Internship. The 12-week program is fully remote, with May and June start sessions, and mentors through practical audit exposure, professional networking, and hands-on project work.

Eligibility includes being enrolled in an undergraduate finance or accounting program with a 3.5+ GPA, plus strong communication, analytical, and IT skills. Equipment is shipped for remote work.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program pursuing a finance, accounting, or related degree with GPA 3.5+.
• Highly motivated individuals with a strong desire to exceed expectations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Thriving in a fast-paced work environment with strong prioritization and organization.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.

• Prior IT-related coursework or technical skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to internal audit engagement teams by assisting with planning and auditing processes and controls.
• Assist with testing of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX).
• Assist lead auditor with planning, documentation, and meeting scheduling.
• Develop understanding of company operations, including insurance and financial services practices.
• Present regular status updates and communicate findings to the audit team.
• Report to Audit Project Manager and/or Audit Manager.
