Symetra invites university students to join the Internal Audit team as a Summer Internship. The 12-week program is fully remote, with May and June start sessions, and mentors through practical audit exposure, professional networking, and hands-on project work.

Eligibility includes being enrolled in an undergraduate finance or accounting program with a 3.5+ GPA, plus strong communication, analytical, and IT skills. Equipment is shipped for remote work.

Responsibilities

• Provide support to internal audit engagement teams by assisting with planning and auditing processes and controls.
• Assist with testing of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX).
• Assist lead auditor with planning, documentation, and meeting scheduling.
• Develop understanding of company operations, including insurance and financial services practices.
• Present regular status updates and communicate findings to the audit team.
• Report to Audit Project Manager and/or Audit Manager.

About the Internship:

Symetra's Internship Program for Summer 2027 is entirely remote - all interns will learn and work in a virtual setting. The internship duration is 12 weeks. To accommodate varying academic calendars, we offer two internship sessions, with start dates in May and June, allowing students on different semester schedules to participate. Applicants will be able to indicate their preferred session during the application process.

We are seeking university students who are interested in joining the Symetra Internal Audit team as a summer intern. This internship will prepare the candidate for a future career in the audit and risk management profession by providing practical on-the-job experience, mentoring relationships, and professional networking opportunities.

Potential Responsibilities:

• Provide support to internal audit engagement teams byassistingwith the planning for and auditing of processes and controls in accounting, finance, informationtechnologyand operations to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and reliability.
