Job summary

Symetra is seeking an Investment Accounting & Reporting Intern for a 12-week remote Summer 2027 program. You will assist with financial data analysis, reporting, and process improvement while collaborating with the Data Analytics team to streamline operations and automate tasks using Excel, Power BI, and internal systems.

Responsibilities include participating in close and reporting cycles, reconciling ledgers, supporting quarterly disclosures, preparing journal entries and management reports,

Qualifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
• Undergraduate student in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
• Desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the company’s accounting close and reporting cycles, and perform ledger and holdings reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
• Quarterly reporting and analysis; work with GAAP and Statutory reporting teams for appropriate disclosure presentation and language.
• Support cash operations and cash custody deliverables.
• Prepare journal entries, financial analytics, management reports, schedules for auditors, and other deliverables.
• Research and document accounting issues; identify areas for improvement and drive projects with minimal guidance.
