Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Intake Operations Support Specialist to provide administrative and operational support for the Patient Access/Intake team. This remote, full-time role handles referrals, document management, and queue maintenance to ensure timely processing.

The position requires attention to detail, data entry accuracy, and the ability to multitask across multiple tools while maintaining patient confidentiality in a HIPAA-compliant environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 18 years of age or older.
• 1+ years in administrative support, customer service, call center, healthcare operations, or related experience.
• Experience with data entry and maintaining electronic records.
• Ability to work full-time Monday–Friday with flexible CST hours (8:00–4:30).

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming patient referrals and enter referral information into systems.
• Create new patient records with demographics, insurance, and referral data.
• Review referrals for completeness and route to appropriate Intake Specialist.
• Manage and organize documents in the patient record and related queues.
• Answer calls, assist or route callers as needed.
• Maintain voicemail queues and update referral statuses and documentation.
• Support with reference to benefit verification, authorization, or financial clearance.
