Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking an Intake Operations Support Specialist to help the Patient Access/Intake team process referrals efficiently. This full-time, remote role supports day-to-day intake operations, including referral entry, document management, and queue maintenance from any location in the United States.

You will collaborate with Intake Specialists and leadership to ensure timely, accurate routing of referrals and communications, while maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance

Qualifications

• 1+ years of administrative support or related experience.
• Experience with data entry and maintaining electronic records.
• Comfort with full-time, weekday schedules and remote work.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• HIPAA and privacy compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming patient referrals and enter referral information into systems.
• Create new patient records with demographic, insurance, provider, and referral data.
• Review referrals for basic completeness and route to the appropriate Intake Specialist.
• Manage documents within the patient’s electronic record and organize queues.
• Answer calls, assist, document, transfer, or route as needed.
• Monitor voicemail and fax queues; follow up on missing information.
• Maintain referral statuses and track outstanding documentation.
• Support with benefit verification, authorization, or financial clearance items.
