Job summary

UTHealth Houston is seeking a detail-oriented Supervisor, Insurance Authorization Verification to manage pre-arrival and authorization activities for multiple departments. You will supervise staff, verify payer eligibility, secure authorizations, and resolve coverage issues to ensure accurate billing and a seamless patient experience.

You will lead audits, enforce compliance with federal/state rules, and maintain data integrity in payor submissions.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience managing a team
• Strong knowledge of insurance verification, authorization processes, and payer policies
• Proficiency in Epic and Excel for data/documentation management
• Experience with AR follow-up and healthcare billing workflows
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail and compliance

Responsibilities

• Oversees pre-arrival/authorization processes for assigned departments.
• Ensures accuracy of data submitted to payors and completeness of claims.
• Supervises staff, sets performance goals, and conducts regular coaching.
• Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and payer guidelines.
• Maintains confidentiality per HIPAA and university policy.
• Identifies regulatory changes and updates policies accordingly.
