Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Coding Auditor to join our Inpatient Coding Team. The role focuses on conducting internal and external audits to guarantee complete and accurate coding in line with guidelines, and on developing audit plans and education for HIM staff.

The ideal candidate will analyze findings, provide corrective actions, and support compliance with corporate policies while contributing to a culture of excellence in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in health information management or related field.
• Three years of coding, auditing, or denials experience.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, COC or CIC certifications; or plan to obtain within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Conduct internal coding audits and coordinate external audits to ensure accuracy per coding guidelines.
• Develop and implement audit plans, programs, and educational activities for HIM staff.
• Analyze audit results, provide root cause analyses and corrective action plans.
• Ensure compliance with MU Health Care coding guidelines and changes in official guidelines.
• Deliver education programs and presentations to HIM staff based on audit findings.
