Job summary

The Ohio State University is seeking a Manager of Inpatient Coding to lead the inpatient coding operations within Health System Shared Services. You will oversee ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for inpatient and rehab settings, monitor MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignments, and coordinate with CDI and Revenue Cycle teams.

You will train coders, ensure timely, accurate coding, and serve as a liaison for coding improvements across departments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive experience in hospital-based inpatient coding.
• Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Administration or equivalent preferred.
• Credentialed as RHIT/RHIA/CCS by AHIMA.
• Experience with computer-assisted coding, coding automation, and revenue cycle analytics.

Responsibilities

• Manage systems and operations for inpatient coding, ensuring accurate ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM/PCS coding.
• Monitor MS-DRG and APR-DRG determinations for billing and statistics.
• Train coders and monitor performance for compliant coding.
• Collaborate with CDI, Revenue Cycle, and clinical departments; liaison for special projects.
• Interact with Department Administration and medical staff to maintain coding quality.
