Job summary

Tufts Medicine is seeking a part-time Medical Coder to review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes. The role supports month-end processes and end-of-discharge coding with a focus on accuracy and timely submission.

The ideal candidate holds CCS/CIC/RHIA or RHIT certification and at least 3 years of inpatient coding experience, with proficiency in Epic and CAC tools. A flexible schedule and remote work are offered.

Qualifications

• 1. High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2. CCS/CIC/RHIA or RHIT certification.
• 3. Three years of ICD-10-CM and PCS coding experience.
• 4. EMR experience.
• 5. Epic and CAC experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies and abstracts clinical data from patient records.
• Performs chart audits prior to coding; requests missing documentation.
• Assigns ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes from documentation.
• Reviews reports with leadership to identify discrepancies.
• Participates in coding audits and collaborates with physicians to resolve issues.
• Ensures timely submission of all accounts; meets deadlines.
• Acts as coding resource for interdepartmental staff.
