Job summary

Duke Health is seeking a Medical Records Coder II for a fully remote role supporting the Patient Revenue Management Organization. The coder will apply ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 conventions to hospital and professional records and coordinate with staff remotely.

Role requires RHIA/RHIT/CCS or CPC/HCS-D certifications and 1–2 years coding experience, with emphasis on DRG/APC reimbursement. Sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered, payable in installments.

Qualifications

• RHIA/RHIT certifications required or preferred.
• CCS certification – 1 year coding experience required.
• CPC or HCS-D certification – 2 years coding experience required.
• High school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Code medical records using ICD-10-CM and CPT conventions.
• Coordinate/review work of subordinate staff and assist with training.
• Ensure quality through regular audits and DRG/APC accuracy.
• Abstract data from medical records for optimal reimbursement.
• Consult with physicians on coding practices and conventions.
