Job summary

UPMC Corporate Revenue Cycle is hiring a Coder I- Technical to join our inpatient coding team. This position will work during daylight business hours, Monday through Friday, and will be fully remote from Pittsburgh-based facilities.

The coder will assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes for all inpatient records, with emphasis on accurate documentation review, compliance guidelines, and timely coding productivity.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completed AHIMA or AACP-certified Coding program or equivalent.
• Familiarity with ICD-9-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT guidelines and procedures.
• Familiarity with PCS codes preferred.
• Six months of hospital coding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Code all diagnoses and procedures by assigning ICD-10-CM and PCS codes.
• Assign principal and secondary diagnoses and procedures from documentation.
• Review medical records to ensure accuracy and proper sequencing for MS-DRG/APR-DRG.
• Identify incomplete documentation and query physicians as needed.
• Meet coding productivity and quality standards within management guidelines.
• Maintain knowledge through continuing education and coding clinics.
