Job summary

Ochsner Health in Louisiana seeks a skilled coder to review and accurately code and abstract complex hospital services, inpatient procedures, and other medical services. You will apply coding guidelines to assign ICD and CPT codes to ensure proper reimbursement and compliance.

You will collaborate with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to secure correct DRG assignment, maintain data integrity, and contribute to meeting productivity and accuracy standards while supporting monthly

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• Completion of AHIMA-accredited coding program with certification (preferred).
• Minimum of 3 years coding experience (required).
• CCS, CIC, RHIA or RHIT certification (required).

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign ICD‑10 codes for complex inpatients and related services.
• Ensure data integrity by reviewing documentation to support codes.
• Research patient accounts in response to questions or errors.
• Meet department productivity and accuracy standards.
• Collaborate with CDI team to ensure correct DRG assignment.
• Work with other departments to meet monthly DNFB and denial goals.
• Verify discharge disposition based on medical documentation.
• Perform related duties as required.
