Job summary

Omega Healthcare Management Services seeks an experienced Coder Inpatient to review medical records and assign accurate inpatient, outpatient, and pro fee codes. You will work remotely, ensuring compliance with AHIMA/AMA/AHA and CMS rules while maintaining high-quality, confidential coding practices.

You will abstract data, sequence diagnoses/procedures, and support reimbursement and quality initiatives, all within client guidelines and a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program and a minimum of two to four years of current production coding experience in both acute care and profee.
• Must have the following certificates and/or licenses: CPC, COC, CIC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CCS-P.
• Experience abstracting, coding, sequencing and interpreting clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro fee and clinical records.
• Knowledge of coding conventions and rules established by AHIMA/AMA/AHA and CMS.

Responsibilities

• Abstracting, coding, sequencing and interpreting clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro fee and clinical medical records.
• Assigning correct principal and secondary diagnoses and principal/secondary procedures with accurate sequencing.
• Utilizing DRG/APC reimbursement knowledge to assign appropriate codes.
• Extracting data for reports and billing documents; maintaining compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements.
• Track productivity and maintain quality standards (e.g., 95% quality rating).
• Maintain confidentiality of patient records and procedures; follow client-specific guidelines.
