Job summary

CentraCare invites you to join as Director of Inpatient Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI). Reporting within the Population Health Division, this leadership role provides strategic and operational oversight of CentraCare's inpatient CDI program.

Work with physician leaders and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care, quality, and financial sustainability. The role oversees staffing, productivity, workflow, and technology, with a schedule that blends remote work and occasional on-site

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's preferred in healthcare, nursing leadership, or health administration.
• Current Registered Nurse license in Minnesota required.
• CCDS – Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist through ACDIS required.
• 5+ years experience in acute care; at least 3 years in clinical documentation integrity.
• 2+ years of management experience at manager/director level.
• Ability for investigation, identify financial implications, and focus on quality.
• Strong critical thinking and storytelling skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with physician leaders, quality, coding, finance, revenue cycle, case management, and operations to ensure accurate, complete documentation reflecting illness severity, mortality risk, resource use, and quality of care.
• Advances documentation strategies influencing quality metrics, CMS, and payer reimbursement.
• Drives CDI initiatives using analytics and industry best practices.
• Partners with CDI Physician Champions to foster a culture of documentation excellence and regulatory compliance.
• Directs daily CDI program operations including staffing, productivity, workflow, and technology.
