The State of Delaware Department of Correction seeks an Inmate Classification Officer I to support the statewide classification system, processing documentation, and preparing information for court proceedings. The role involves coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure accurate classifications and secure records across facilities.

The position emphasizes data accuracy, compliance with standards, and the ability to manage sensitive information while preparing detailed case packages

Competenze

• Six months experience in using an inmate classification system to classify inmates based on risk factors and treatment needs.
• Six months experience in making recommendations as part of a clients service plan such as clinical treatment, counseling, or determining eligibility for health or human services/benefits.
• Six months experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Six months experience in using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve/inquire and report on data.
• Six months experience in narrative report writing.

Mansioni

• Interviews inmates with the multidisciplinary classification team to determine initial classification or reclassification.
• Receives records and reports from classification team members and assesses their findings.
• Schedules and chairs multidisciplinary meetings and leads discussions to reach a justifiable recommendation.
• Ensures implementation of Classification Committee decisions through on-site inspections and corrective actions.
• Participates in transfers to implement decisions and manages crisis situations as needed.
