Job summary

The Delaware Department of Correction seeks an Inmate Classification Officer I to support the statewide classification system, focusing on 4217 application processing and documentation accuracy. The role includes synthesizing case information for higher-level decision-making and maintaining secure records.

You will participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, ensure compliance, and prepare information packages for court proceedings. Telework and flexible schedules are available per policy.

Qualifications

• Six months experience using an inmate classification system to classify inmates based on risk factors and treatment needs.
• Six months experience making recommendations as part of a client service plan such as clinical treatment or determining eligibility for services/benefits.
• Six months experience interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
• Six months experience using automated information systems to enter/update/report data.
• Six months experience in narrative report writing.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and process facility documentation and classification assessments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Synthesize information and elevate pertinent case data to higher-level decision-makers.
• Conduct precise data entry to maintain accurate records and ensure compliance.
• Organize, update, and securely manage core departmental files.
• Disseminate official classification decisions to institutions and authorized agencies.
• Prepare comprehensive information packages for court proceedings and related processes.
