Job summary

IVPN is seeking an experienced infrastructure engineer to upgrade and maintain our high‑performing VPN and DNS infrastructure. This fully remote role offers autonomy and a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and automation.

You will own areas, drive projects, and collaborate with the senior engineer on shared infrastructure while taking on independent responsibilities. Responsibilities include rolling out a new VPN gateway fleet, deploying endpoints, ensuring high availability, and

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of infosec controls on servers (cryptographic controls, reproducible builds).
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, UDP, SSL/TLS and other Internet protocols.
• 3+ years managing Linux servers in production, including bare-metal.
• 3+ years with a configuration management tool (Ansible, Puppet, Salt).
• Comfort with scripting in Python, Go, or Bash.
• Strong documentation and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Roll out the new VPN gateway fleet (immutable, diskless, secure).
• Deploy endpoints and improve DNS routing.
• Ensure high availability of VPN and DNS servers in production.
• Drive automation and tooling improvements across the infrastructure.
• Interface with ISPs to resolve upstream network issues.
• Provide level 2/3 support for infrastructure issues.
