Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee is seeking an Engineering Team Lead for Authentication to guide the design, build, and scale of enterprise authentication and federation experiences across the organization. This role leads a team of engineers, mentoring them while remaining hands-on with technical solutions to mature authentication capabilities and expand federation standards.

The ideal candidate has strong experience with identity platforms, SAML/OIDC/OAuth protocols, and large-scale SSO

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related field.
5+ years in IT, application development, or enterprise maintenance.
Hands-on with programming and enterprise IT systems; SME in at least one system.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day operations of a team focused on authentication systems and federation solutions.
Provide staff management oversight including hiring, promotions, and performance reviews.
Direct and motivate staff, enabling professional growth and strong team collaboration.
Ensure adherence to policies, budgets, objectives, and staffing plans.
Track team-level project details and serve as technical SME during transitions.
Participate in weekly on-call rotation for critical authentication platforms.
