Job summary

Laveer Engineering in Madison, WI is seeking an I&C Engineer with 8+ years of nuclear plant experience for a contract role with remote work. The Principal Engineer leads evaluation, design, and implementation of uprate initiatives to safely increase capacity and improve efficiency.

The role requires expertise in system performance, electrical and instrumentation & control, regulatory compliance, and project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Mechanical, or related engineering.
• 8–15 years of experience in power generation or heavy industry.
• Experience with power system analysis and ETAP modeling.
• Experience with instrumentation calculations and transmitter applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead uprate projects, including feasibility studies and detailed design.
• Serve as the primary technical authority on uprate strategies and system impacts.
• Provide mentorship across electrical and I&C disciplines.
• Perform instrumentation calculations and transmitter sizing; validate measurements.
• Review instrument setpoints, scaling changes, and regulatory compliance.
• Support licensing submittals, regulatory interfaces, and auditable docs.
• Maintain safety culture and engineering rigor across projects.
