Job summary

Creative Financial Staffing, LLC is seeking a Nonprofit Audit and Accounting Manager to lead engagements for a diverse nonprofit portfolio in the Denver area. You will supervise staff, oversee audit work papers, and ensure high-quality financial reporting and Form 990 compliance.

This leadership role emphasizes client relationships, process improvements, and strategic oversight within a mission-driven environment, with a mostly remote hybrid schedule and a 30–35 hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Public accounting management experience or controller-level leadership experience.
• Strong nonprofit accounting and auditing expertise.
• Experience preparing and reviewing Form 990 filings.
• Knowledge of nonprofit accounting regulations and reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and developing staff.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs, sorting, tables, and data analysis.
• Experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft-based business applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead nonprofit audit engagements and oversee the preparation of audit work papers.
• Review accounting records, financial reports, and client deliverables for quality and accuracy.
• Prepare and review Form 990 filings and support nonprofit compliance requirements.
• Supervise, mentor, and train accounting and bookkeeping team members.
• Monitor engagement timelines and ensure client deadlines are met.
• Develop and improve reporting packages, workflow processes, and operational efficiencies.
• Support proposal development and client relationship management activities.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to nonprofit clients and organizational leadership.
