Job summary

South Shore Insurance Underwriters (SSIU) seeks an Associate Underwriter to support the Personal Lines team with submission reviews, quoting, policy processing, inspections, and agent service. This role reports to the Underwriting Team Lead and offers training within established guidelines.

You’ll handle HO6 submissions, wind deductible buyback quotes, renewals and endorsements, while maintaining accurate records and delivering responsive service to agents in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in personal lines underwriting or underwriting support preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with agents via phone and email.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review submissions and prepare quotes within guidelines and authority.
• Request missing information and document underwriting reviews.
• Respond to agent emails and calls regarding submissions and policy changes.
• Process renewals and endorsements, including premium changes.
• Support inspections and verify documentation and repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of policy changes and underwriting decisions.
• Coordinate work to meet service standards and communicate delays early.
• Participate in coaching, quality reviews, and team coverage.
