Job summary

Jacobs is hiring Associate (Mid-Level) Archaeologists to support desktop and field-based cultural resources work across the western United States. The role involves NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, and NAGPRA compliance, fieldwork leadership, and coordination with clients and agencies.

You will mentor junior staff, develop treatment plans, and contribute to project reports while collaborating with engineers, scientists, and project managers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Archaeology or related field.
• Knowledge of historic preservation laws and policies (NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA).
• Experience in fieldwork and reporting within the US West.
• Ability to travel frequently and for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Serve as task or field lead for small to medium projects.
• Coordinate with GIS and editors for project completion.
• Lead author for project reports for small to medium studies.
• Prepare fieldwork plans and health, safety, and environment plans.
• Develop fieldwork permit applications and mobilization/demobilization tasks.
• Direct field crews and ensure plans are implemented.
• Contribute to planning and problem solving on a range of issues.
• Mentor junior staff and support clients during consultations.
