Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an Associate (Mid-Level) Archaeologist for full-time, modified full-time, or part-time roles across the western United States. You’ll support planning, engineering, and construction services for government, military, and commercial clients, collaborating with scientists, engineers, and project managers on NHPA, ARPA, NEPA, and NAGPRA requirements.

You’ll conduct archival research, fieldwork, data analysis, and report writing while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Archaeology or related field.
• Meet Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for Archaeology.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional archaeological fieldwork within the US West.
• Knowledge of historic preservation laws and policies, including NEPA, NHPA, ARPA, and NAGPRA.
• Must be capable of walking long distances with field equipment.
• Willingness to travel frequently and for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Serve as task and/or field lead for small to medium projects.
• Coordinate with GIS and editors for project completion.
• Lead author for medium-sized project reports.
• Prepare resource forms independently.
• Develop fieldwork and HSE plans.
• Prepare fieldwork permit applications.
• Mobilize and demobilize field gear.
• Direct the field crew in implementing plans.
• Contribute to planning and problem solving.
• Mentor junior staff and crew members.
• Support business development including scopes of work and budgets.
• Coordinate with cultural resources team for integrated reports.
