Job summary

Athens Administrators, Inc. is seeking an experienced Assistant Claims Examiner - Flex to support our California Workers’ Compensation team.

The role is location-flexible within California with in-office attendance required for some offices and a remote-friendly, 37.5-hour work week. The Assistant Claims Examiner - Flex will provide clerical and technical support to Senior Claims Examiners, manage Medical Only claims, ensure timely processing of payments, medical treatment, and reserves across

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent; AA/AS/BA/BS preferred but not required.
• 2+ years’ Claims Assistant experience in workers’ compensation preferred.
• Medical Only Adjuster designation preferred and required after hire.

Responsibilities

• Process new claims and issue indemnity payments on time.
• Process approved provider bills and prepare bills for medical services.
• Prepare letters to providers for disputed bills and communicate with medical staff.
• Contact treating physicians and employers to confirm disability status and return-to-work availability.
• Update claim information in the system and maintain records.
• Coordinate with Senior Claims Examiners, Nurse Case Managers and other staff.
