Job summary

AE Works is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III to lead HVAC design and project coordination on diverse building projects. You’ll collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers across higher education, government, and commercial markets, guiding technical solutions from concept through construction.

Qualified candidates hold a PE license, ABET-accredited degree, and 5+ years’ experience in building systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architectural engineering or mechanical engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 5+ years of building industry experience.
• Licensure: PE license required, with the ability to pursue additional state licenses as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and construction administration of HVAC systems for building projects, both new construction and renovation.
• Provide technical leadership in mechanical engineering principles including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science.
• Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to understand needs and develop custom mechanical solutions for energy efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Develop system specifications, technical reports and construction documents.
• Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant systems.
• Mentor and develop the engineering team, promote design standards and professional growth.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely project delivery within budget and quality standards.
• Support interviews and presentations to aid new business opportunities and client engagement.
