Job summary

GFT is seeking an Associate Physical Designer (Substation) to work on high-voltage projects across multiple US offices or remotely nationwide. The role focuses on the physical design of substations up to 500kV, with senior engineers mentoring the team.

The position offers a hybrid work model, competitive salary, and comprehensive benefits. You will develop construction documents, perform calculations, and coordinate with vendors to ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant substation or general electrical T&D designing experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and execution of high-voltage substations projects up to 500kV.
• Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under supervision.
• Create general arrangement, elevation, grounding and conduit drawings.
• Perform engineering calculations and review project safety, cost and quality.
• Follow supervisor instructions for complex design tasks.
• Travel to job sites for data gathering as needed.
