Job summary

State of Washington's Department of Corrections seeks a Human Resource Consultant 2 to deliver expert HR guidance to managers and staff, interpreting CBA, federal laws, WACs and RCWs. You will input and monitor personnel actions, maintain files, and handle complex HR issues within a corrections setting.

Ideal candidates possess two years of HR experience, MS Word/Outlook proficiency, and familiarity with NEOGOV/HRMS; in-training paths to HRC2 may exist.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Two years of broad-based human resources experience.
• College coursework may substitute year for year for up to one year of experience.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, human resources, social or organizational behavioral sciences, or related field.
• Two years of professional-level human resource experience including assessing and facilitating solutions.
• Six months or more experience using NEOGOV and HRMS.
• S/PHR or SHRM certifications are a plus.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation, advice, guidance and support to managers, supervisors, and staff on multiple and diverse HR issues and processes.
• Input and monitor personnel actions and maintain electronic and physical files.
• Administer the CBA Bid System.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
