Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Facility/Hospital Based Inpatient Coder for a full-time, remote role in the United States. The position emphasizes high-risk topics identified through Risk Mitigation activities and involves coding for both professional and hospital settings.

The role requires advanced ICD, CPT, and HCPCS knowledge, strong documentation and audit skills, and the ability to work with clinicians and education teams to improve documentation quality. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Credentials in coding required; 5 years of expert/professional or hospital-based coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory guidelines to support accurate coding practices.
• Develop and maintain coding guidance, standard work, and reference materials for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits; track findings and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and risks.
• Prepare reports for leadership, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
