Job summary

Advocate Health seeks an experienced medical coder to ensure accurate and compliant professional and hospital coding. You will interpret regulatory requirements, maintain coding guidance, and support enterprise-wide quality audits.

The role emphasizes auditing, documentation accuracy, and collaboration with clinicians and coding leadership. Ideal candidates hold AHIMA or AAPC credentials (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC) and have 5 years of hospital-based coding experience, with remote work options

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education required.
• Certification in AHIMA or AAPC (RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC) preferred or required.
• 5 years of expert-level professional or hospital-based coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements for professional and hospital coding accuracy.
• Develop and maintain coding guidance, reference materials, and position statements for enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits and document findings and corrective actions.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership and quality improvement initiatives.
