Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent education required.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification such as RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CCS-P/CPC is required.
• 5 years of expert-level professional coding or hospital-based coding experience.
• Experience with revenue cycle processes, health information workflows, and medical record auditing.

Responsibilities

• Research, interpret, and apply coding, payer, and regulatory requirements to support accurate and compliant coding practices.
• Develop and update coding guidance, standard work, and reference materials to ensure enterprise consistency.
• Coordinate and support coding quality audits and track findings to identify quality issues and risks.
• Analyze coding quality data and audit results to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare summaries and reports for leadership, audits, and quality initiatives.
• Collaborate with Integrity Operations, coding leadership, clinicians, and education teams to improve documentation quality and coding accuracy.
• Support regulatory, compliance, and quality-related projects and ensure AHIMA coding standards are followed.
• Respond to internal inquiries related to coding guidance and audit outcomes.
• Support testing and workflow updates related to coding quality and compliance initiatives.
