Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Texas seeks a Manager HIM Coding to oversee daily coding operations and remote associates, ensuring compliance with AHIMA/AAPC standards and CMS guidelines. You will coach staff, monitor audits, and coordinate with CDI, HIM, and Revenue Cycle to improve workflows and revenue integrity.

The role reports to the Director of HIM Coding Operations and requires leadership experience in health information management and thorough knowledge of coding systems and regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical record science/administration or equivalent healthcare leadership experience.
• Extensive knowledge of health information management functions, including coding and compliance (ICD-10/PCS, CPT coding systems, MS-DRGs, and APCs).
• Knowledge of governmental, federal, state, and local regulations related to billing rules and compliance.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications).

Responsibilities

• Meets organizational competencies and leads by example.
• Analyze audit results to identify improvement opportunities.
• Coach and provide feedback to coding staff based on audit findings.
• Ensure staff attend required training in inpatient/outpatient coding and related areas.
• Coordinate training for non-coding staff on documentation and compliance.
• Collaborate with CDI, HIM, Revenue Cycle, IT to optimize workflows.
• Lead interviews, hiring, onboarding, and training of new coding associates.
• Produce clinical and statistical reports for hospital operations and research.
