Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking an experienced Coding Editor for the Coding Quality team. This 100% virtual role focuses on reviewing coding quality alerts, hospital billing edits, and denials to improve accuracy before final billing.

Remote work is available to candidates in Arkansas, Wisconsin, Texas, and Florida, with strict state limitations. The ideal candidate has five years in acute care hospital coding, AHIMA or AAPC certifications, and strong knowledge of reimbursement principles.

Qualifications

• Five years of coding experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Must have completed an approved coding program or be a HIM program graduate.
• AHIMA certification: RHIT/RHIA/CCS/CCS-P and AAPC CPC-H/CPC are required.

Responsibilities

• Verify CPT codes for complex procedures and ensure accuracy.
• Verify diagnosis coding for complex encounters.
• Review charge and procedure mismatches and adherence to editorial standards.
• Assess codes with revenue integrity edits for NCD/LCD coverage.
• Address invalid codes, code conflicts, and missing modifiers.
• Collaborate with billing, revenue integrity, and coding operations teams.
• Assist with training and mentoring other coders as needed.
• Identify and resolve billing edits preventing timely final billing.
