Job summary

Westat is seeking a Principal Research Associate - Healthcare Researcher for a fully remote U.S. role. You will lead quantitative healthcare data analyses, program in SQL, Python and R, and use Databricks to process Medicare/Medicaid claims.

You will manage timelines, prepare reports, and ensure QA across teams. A master’s or PhD with several years of experience in health services research is required.

Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in economics, epidemiology, public health, data science or a relevant discipline with 8+ years of experience, or a PhD with 5+ years.
• Experience conducting health services research independently and on multidisciplinary teams.
• Quantitative analytic expertise using SQL, and/or Python, and/or R.
• Experience with Medicare claims and other Medicare administrative data.

Responsibilities

• Lead application of quantitative research methods for CMS and other clients.
• Independently program and analyze using SQL, Python, and/or R, via Databricks.
• Prepare internal and client reports including technical healthcare data writing.
• Perform QA of others' technical specs, code, and outputs.
• Communicate quantitative results to internal and external audiences.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and reporting docs.
• Contribute to business development with healthcare data approaches.
