Job summary

EvergreenHealth in Washington State seeks a skilled Medical Coder to abstract and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for inpatient, ambulatory, and outpatient accounts using encoder/grouper software and Evergreen’s systems. The role supports external and internal review activities and assists the HIM department with coding and reimbursement issues.

The position requires CPC/CCS-P/CCS/RHIA/RHIT certifications and prior experience coding in a facility setting, with a goal of ensuring

Qualifications

• CPC/CCS-P/CCS/RHIA/RHIT are required certifications.
• Experience coding CPT and ICD-10 in a facility setting is required.
• Experience with coding accuracy and documentation within HIM guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review records across inpatient, ED, outpatient, Home Health/Hospice to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Use encoder/grouper and leveling software and Evergreen systems to abstract data.
• Review charges entered in Cerner and approve charges per HIM criteria.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
