The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach online graduate courses in health informatics within the CAHIIM-accredited MSHI program. The role supports working professionals through asynchronous instruction, student mentorship, and ongoing program improvement.

Responsibilities include designing courses, facilitating discussions, providing timely feedback, and maintaining alignment with competencies and accreditation standards in a fully remote

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate in Informatics, Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Health Data Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, CS with healthcare applications, or related field.
• Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in health informatics or related discipline plus 5+ years in health informatics or analytics may apply in rare cases.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development (certifications, presentations, publications).

Responsibilities

• Teach one or more graduate-level online courses per academic year (typically 2–3 courses).
• Design and deliver high-quality asynchronous instruction and learning activities.
• Facilitate discussions and provide timely, constructive feedback on assignments and assessments.
• Maintain virtual office hours and respond promptly to student inquiries.
• Monitor student engagement and progress and provide interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with program leadership to ensure content aligns with competencies and accreditation standards.
