Job summary

SPUN is seeking a Head of People & Organizational Development to shape how the NGO grows. You will work with senior leadership to redesign structure, culture, and processes, enabling collaboration and impact across a globally distributed team.

You will lead organizational design, talent strategy, and AI adoption initiatives, ensuring consistent people practices while preserving SPUN’s mission-driven culture.

Qualifications

• 7+ years helping organizations scale, nurture culture, trust, connection, and accountability.
• Strategist who builds the strategy and then implements the processes, frameworks, and systems.
• Deeply curious about what motivates people, how teams function, and what impedes best work.
• Trusted leadership partner capable of advising senior leaders with maturity and care.
• Experienced in changing how people work, including AI adoption and change management.
• Excellent communicator, able to engage scientists, policy, partnerships, and executives.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve SPUN’s structure to support strategy and growth.
• Partner with leaders to plan hiring and development across levels as we expand.
• Assess organizational health with clear indicators to identify friction or bottlenecks.
• Ensure people policies reflect SPUN’s values across the countries where we operate.
• Shape operating rhythms, decision-making, and planning for a distributed team.
• Strengthen knowledge capture and cross-team collaboration across time zones.
• Develop AI fluency and practical resources for different roles and levels.
• Design onboarding that brings new team members into SPUN’s culture and ways of working.
