Job summary

SPUN seeks a Senior Operations Manager to run the operational backbone of the NGO. You’ll oversee administration, people operations, legal/compliance, grants, sustainability, and IT/security, building efficient processes for a fast-moving, globally distributed team.

International experience, strong organizational skills, and comfort with contracts are essential to support SPUN’s mission and enable scientists and partners to focus on impact.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operations experience in a small or growing organization.
• Experience administering across multiple countries (PEO/EOO).
• Highly organized with ability to manage many moving parts.
• Security-minded with IT security and data protection awareness.
• Comfortable with contracts and compliance; ability to work with legal/financial experts.
• Discreet handling of sensitive information.
• Strong service-minded communication across time zones.

Responsibilities

• Oversee administration and back-office systems, licenses, access and documentation.
• Manage people operations including onboarding, payroll inputs, and records.
• Handle contracts, compliance, insurance coordination, and risk tracking.
• Administer grants and subawards, track budgets and funder reporting.
• Develop and monitor sustainable operations including travel policy and emissions.
• Coordinate IT security practices and data protection across the staff.
