Substack is seeking a Head of People to build and scale the People function at a pivotal growth stage. You’ll own strategy, systems, and programs for hiring, development, rewards, and support, spanning benefits, compensation, leveling, reviews, learning, and recruitment.

This role is strategic yet hands-on, shaping org design, workforce planning, and leadership practices while directly assisting employees and managers. You’ll lead a high-impact People team to enable fast, ambitious growth.

Competenze

• 8+ years of progressive experience in People or HR roles with multi-functional leadership.
• Startup or growth-stage experience required.
• Proven ability to influence executive leadership with excellent communication and coaching.

Mansioni

• Develop and execute a comprehensive people strategy aligned with the company mission, values, and goals.
• Lead and scale the People function across recruiting, onboarding, compensation, benefits, employee experience, performance management, and talent development.
• Own compensation, benefits, leveling frameworks, and the performance review cycle.
• Build learning and development programs and leadership coaching to grow leaders.
• Shape employee experience including culture, surveys, orientation, and onboarding processes.
• Lead recruiting strategy to hire exceptional talent.
• Advise on organizational design, workforce planning, and succession planning.
• Build and continuously improve people systems, policies, and programs.
• Coach managers and leaders on performance and organizational effectiveness.
• Oversee employee relations and ensure issues are resolved thoughtfully.
• Use people analytics and reporting to inform decisions.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations.
• Build and mentor a high-performing People team.
