Job summary

Speechify is seeking a Team Lead for Android Core to own major features end-to-end in a fully remote, distributed team. You will write and review code, drive releases, and ensure reliable, scalable Android experiences for Speechify’s audience.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of software engineering experience with a strong Kotlin and Android background, including MVVM, Clean Architecture, and background services. Remote-friendly, with a focus on fast, high-quality delivery.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including time leading a team or owning a major surface while staying hands-on.
• Proven capability with Kotlin and Android architecture patterns in production apps.
• Experience shipping and maintaining long-running background work such as music playback or audio features.
• Strong emphasis on testing and maintainable code, with lessons learned from past introductions.

Responsibilities

• Own major features end to end, from design through release.
• Maintain and improve reliability metrics for key features.
• Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback.
• Unblock the team and coordinate versions used across the codebase.
• Ensure code quality is understandable and reusable for future work.
