Job summary

National Caucus of Environmental Legislators seeks a Grid Specialist for Climate & Energy to lead NCEL's state policy work on transmission and electricity markets. The role emphasizes network-building, outreach, and collaboration with legislators, partners, and advocacy groups across the country.

The ideal candidate will craft strategy, track policy developments at multiple levels, and support grant-funded initiatives while traveling up to 25% of the time.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of policy or political organizing experience at state, territorial, federal, Tribal, or community level.
• Knowledge of policies related to transmission and electricity markets.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to convey complex information clearly.
• Experience with Google applications and basic database management.
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% and work remotely across the country.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and strategize initiatives and events for legislators on transmission and electricity market policy.
• Track legislative trends and prepare briefing materials and updates for NCEL members.
• Organize regional events, webinars, and site visits to engage legislators and partners.
• Conduct outreach to state lawmakers to recruit and engage new members.
• Prepare and deliver policy briefings for internal and external audiences.
