Job summary

NRDC is seeking a North Carolina Policy Advocate to join the Southeast Regional Climate and Energy Team. This role focuses on transitioning to a clean energy economy and addressing environmental inequities through collaborative advocacy, policy development, and partnerships with state coalitions and decision-makers.

The position requires travel to Raleigh and NRDC offices, effective media representation, and a commitment to NRDCs mission and DEI principles. A 2-year limited-term role is noted.

Qualifications

• Minimum education of a Bachelor's degree; advanced degrees a plus.
• Experience in state-level clean energy and climate policy advocacy.
• Experience navigating diverse stakeholders and driving outcomes within teams and coalitions.
• Ability to travel to Raleigh and NRDC offices as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support development of a broad portfolio of equitable climate and clean energy policies; build partnerships with state coalitions and allies.
• Develop and nurture relationships with state decision-makers and elected officials.
• Provide written and oral advocacy to NRDC priorities with NC legislature and state agencies.
• Conduct policy research and analysis to support positions and arguments.
• Represent NRDC in conferences and act as NC spokesperson for media and public forums.
