Job summary

GovHRUSA is seeking an Engineering Grant Accountant for a Part-Time Remote (Temporary 6+months) position in Dubuque, IA. The role focuses on grant, capital project, and general accounting, including budgeting, reporting, and compliance for city engineering programs.

The ideal candidate will possess strong budgeting skills, the ability to work independently, and experience in government accounting practices. CPA certification is preferred to support grant management and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field with budgeting and project management experience.
• Experience in budgeting, accounting, and project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPA certification is preferred for advancement and leadership of grant programs.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report on grants, loans, and capital projects financials.
• Prepare grant-related budgets, quarterly and annual reports, and compliance materials.
• Coordinate and support audit work papers and grant draws with state/federal agencies.
• Review accounting entries and journal entries related to grants and loans.
• Provide guidance on grant management and training to City staff.
