Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government, international relations, national security, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrated interest in Congress, national security, federal policy, government relations, or emerging technology.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional maturity and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor legislation, hearings, markups, committee activity, Member statements, and other congressional developments relevant to Hidden Level.
  • Track federal authorization, appropriations, and budget activity, including key deadlines and legislative milestones.
  • Research Members of Congress, committees, staff, caucuses, legislation, and policy issues to support the company’s engagement strategy.
  • Identify policy and funding developments that may present opportunities or risks for the company.
  • Attend congressional hearings, policy briefings, industry events, and other Washington forums, providing clear summaries and analysis.
  • Track relevant legislation throughout the congressional process and help assess its potential impact on Hidden Level.
  • Support Hidden Level’s annual federal appropriations and authorization efforts through research, tracking, material preparation, and coordination of congressional requests.
  • Research federal programs, appropriations accounts, budget requests, congressional priorities, and other funding opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of funding and policy requests, deadlines, submissions, status, and outcomes.
  • Help connect federal funding and policy developments to Hidden Level’s business and strategic priorities.
  • Research policy issues affecting Hidden Level, including counter-UAS, airspace security, defense, homeland security, aviation, transportation, public safety, and critical infrastructure.
  • Prepare concise analyses, issue summaries, legislative updates, background materials, and other resources for internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor federal agencies, congressional committees, think tanks, trade associations, and industry organizations for emerging policy developments.
  • Translate complex legislative and policy information into clear, actionable insights for internal teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Hidden Level’s technology and applications to help communicate its capabilities to policymakers and other nontechnical audiences.
  • Prepare for meetings with Members of Congress, congressional staff, committee staff, executive branch officials, and other government stakeholders.
  • Develop meeting briefs, biographies, background research, talking points, presentations, and other briefing materials.
  • Coordinate congressional meetings, policy briefings, facility visits, demonstrations, and other government engagements.
  • Participate in meetings as appropriate, document key takeaways and action items, and coordinate follow‑up.
  • Maintain accurate records of government engagements, stakeholder relationships, commitments, and follow‑up activities.
  • Draft and edit policy briefs, congressional white papers, one‑pagers, presentations, talking points, meeting materials, correspondence, and internal updates.
  • Assist with congressional appropriations and policy request submissions.
  • Maintain government relations calendars, stakeholder lists, legislative trackers, and engagement records.
  • Coordinate with Business Development, Legal, Communications, Product, and other internal teams.
  • Support engagement with outside consultants, trade associations, coalitions, and industry partners.
  • Help coordinate Washington‑area events, congressional visits, and policy briefings.
  • Take increasing ownership of projects and direct stakeholder engagement as experience and expertise grow.
