Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Specialist I to coordinate, prepare, and process GIS data for digital mapping. The role supports GIS mapping, data translation, and integration with asset management systems in a remote, service-territory-based setting.

The candidate will edit, QA, and maintain GIS data, develop QA procedures, and ensure proper archiving of digital materials, while collaborating with the supervisor and team.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1–3 years of prior GIS-related work experience.
• Familiar with Electric Utility infrastructure and terminology.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS Enterprise and ability to edit/update mapping systems.
• Knowledge of ArcCatalog and ESRI geodatabase formats.
• Knowledge of drafting, surveying, construction and electronic mapping tools.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, prepare, and process GIS information for Chesapeake Utilities.
• Edit, QA, and analyze digital map data and tabular data.
• Integrate other asset management programs into GIS.
• Develop QA procedures, standards, and protocols.
• Archive digital media and source materials properly.
• Maintain metadata files and related data.
• Communicate production concerns to supervisor.
• Update base map data for geospatial applications.
