Job summary

Chesapeake Utilities Corporation is seeking a GIS Technician to coordinate, prepare, and process GIS information for digital map products. The role covers data creation, editing, archival, and metadata maintenance in a fast-paced environment.

You will work with ArcGIS Enterprise and ESRI formats to support utility infrastructure mapping, while ensuring data quality and integration with other asset management systems. Remote work is supported with a home-based setup.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
1–3 years of GIS/data mapping-related experience.
Familiarity with Electric Utility infrastructure terminology.

Responsibilities

Perform creation, conversion, translation, migration, and import of GIS data from various sources.
Edit, quality control, and manipulate digital map data.
Integrate other asset management programs into the GIS.
Develop QA procedures, standards, and protocols.
Ensure digital media and source materials are archived and stored.
Maintain and update metadata files.
Communicate production concerns to the supervisor.
Process and update digital base map data for geospatial apps.
Apply advanced GIS principles in all efforts.
Follow Quality Control protocols as directed.
Assist in project layout and design activities.
Maintain all related data and map products.
Assist with annual DOT/PHMSA reports.
Support other duties as assigned.
